10 Affordable Light Fixtures from AMAZON!

I’m in love with Amazon. It’s the first place I look when I need anything from double-sided tape, to comfortable walking shoes to home decor. I am a big believer. And don’t get me started about prime. 2 days? Yes please

Affordable Amazon Lighting

Today I am going to share some of my favorite affordable Amazon light fixtures. (Post contains affiliate links) We moved into a home that was 15 years old so the lights were needing and update but I didn’t have the budget to go huge. Don’t underestimate the transformative power of lighting! Here are some of my favorites.

When we moved in, our kitchen had pretty dated fixtures, so I was looking for an inexpensive solution that would lighten things up. I found this one for under $40! They were super easy to install and adjust to the length we needed and made a huge change from the dark ones that were there previously.

Next up is the Dining Room light. I am so happy with this rustic light that gives a light airy, farmhouse feel, but is interesting and substantial. I love the edison bulbs for these types of fixtures. While they are a little pricier than standard bulbs, we have had ours for 2 years and haven’t had to replace any bulbs yet!

My Boys room was blessed with a standard (inappropriate, haha) dome light. When I updated their room, it was begging for something more modern. This modern light is funky, fun and under $80 and so good! And it comes with bulbs, even better!

Entryway Lighting

This Entryway Light was one of our first switches. I had it shipped and it arrived at our new house before we even closed on the house! Lighting makes such a huge impact, especially in the entry. This one is right around $100!

I always dreamed of a Chandelier in my room when I was little, for under $70, this light is an easy choice. It has the option to be hardwired or plugged in which makes it double awesome.

For our music room, I loved this light and airy fixture. The bulbs can be positioned to face up or down. While I couldn’t find this exact light on Amazon anymore, I found a similar one I love even more. I love the brass and I love the price. Under $80!

This light is one that I chose for our powder room. I love the galvanized look! Under $70!

I hung this next one in my laundry room, but I haven’t yet patched the holes that were left from the old florescent lights that were there before. No photo of the laundry room today, but this light is so pretty and freshens it up so much—-for under $60!

I am hoping to update some bathrooms this year, so here I’ve got my eye on some new vanity lights. Isnt this one pretty? Under $60!

I’ve got my eye on this one for my master bath. I love the wood and black pipe combo. I think it would be so pretty with a black rimmed mirror.

Well there you have it, 10 super affordable lighting options that can be at your door in 2 days! All but one are under $100! Changing out a fixture is a quick, easy, inexpensive way to change the whole feel of a room. This youtube video will show you how! Go get em!

15 Hilarious & Unexpected White Elephant Gifts

{Post contains affiliate links.}

Every year we host an epic Thrift Store Formal Christmas Party for some of our closest friends. Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds and I highly recommend doing one with your friends. Truly one of the highlights of my year, every year.

As a part of our party, we have a White Elephant gift exchange. After a few years, I have collected quite a catalog of impressively awesome ideas, that are far from expected. If you have a white elephant party on the horizon, check out this list of show stoppers. I think you’ll find something good. I only included things that have the potential to be fought over. Those are the winners in my book.

If you just want to shortcut to an Amazon list, here it is. Otherwise, keep scrolling for the magic.

Can you imagine all of the fun that could be had with this horrifying and hilarious mask?

This air gun is always a party hit. When Grandma gets hit with a big puff of air from across the room? Nothing better.

Maybe I just want my husband to get this one. It’s selfish. Selfish and funny.

Obviousy, this goat one is a great choice, but any marionette proves to be a good time.

Can you imagine all the people you could sneak up on with this mask? It will be fought over for sure.

Nothing like a candle at Christmas time. This one has a good chance of being stolen…..and maybe re-gifted, it’s that good.

This peel and stick decal is bound to get some good use. Can you imagine how awesome this would be left as a surprise in basically any bathroom?

8. Live Goldfish

Maybe throw in a bottle of food? Someone is about to get so lucky.

Because it’s Christmas time and it’s the right thing to do. Hey, Santa.

You can’t be everything for everyone, this should help.

Wouldn’t these beast legs look amazing with a dress? I mean, with anything really. I would be willing to bet these are a party hit.

Is this one crossing a line? I figured everyone could use a little more Jesus. Fingers crossed a teen ends up with this one for some moral support.

Fun for kids and adults, just hope Grandpa gets this lounger so you can see watch the fun that comes next.

Does making fun of The Donald ever get old? This button will be a huuuuge hit.

Pretty good. Everyone gets a kick out of a nose swap with these “pick your nose” cups.

Well there you have it. I gave it my best. Hopefully you can find something that will suit your party and add to the good times! Happy partying!

Shared Boys Room- One Room Challenge Reveal!

6 weeks ago, I signed up for the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge. It’s not a competition, just some motivation to start and finish a room within 6 weeks, with a bunch of other people doing the same!

I didn’t do anything too dramatic or expensive, mostly using things I already had, along with a some thrifted finds. Changing out a light, painting the walls, some DIY projects including some prints, vertical shiplap and an easy sign and the difference is night and day. I’m so happy with the change and even happier that it didn’t cost much!

I was supposed to post updates weekly, but I’m going to need to learn to love progress photos, because here we are at week 6 with my first and last post.

Teen Boys Room

I love to have my kids share a room. I have 2 girls and 2 boys and for now, we have a girl room and a boy room. Maybe they will grow out of it someday, but I grew up sharing a room with my sister who is still one of my best friends. Maybe those late night shenanigans had something to do with our friendship? I’m willing to bet on it.

Boy Room Decor

There are a million reasons why I like my kids to share rooms, but I won’t go into that. My goal was to make them a comfortable and cool space where they like to hang out. We’ve done bunk beds in the past and while they make a lot of sense, I have loved having individual beds. Sometimes, you just have to get in there for a snuggle and those top-bunkers always miss out on that. Never to old for a bedtime snuggle.

We started out by painting the walls Sherwin Williams Dover White, which is a warm white (we had to go warm because of our existing trim color). We rearranged the furniture over and over again until we finally settled on this arrangement. I normally wouldn’t put beds in front of a window, but this gave the most usable floor space and symmetry. I’m into symmetry.

Then we switched out that old light for a modern update. We tried a couple of different options, but ended up being really happy with this option from Amazon. Such an improvement without a lot of cost.

We also decided we wanted an accent wall. We went with some vertical “shiplap” with 1/4 inch gaps for a clean and modern look. We used 1/4 inch underpayment material from Home Depot and had them cut it into 1/4 inch strips. We painted the accent wall Behr Marquee Unpredictable Hue. In the process, we removed and replaced the trim, which proved to be the tricky part. With some trial and error and a bit of caulk, we are happy with the outcome. I love white and crisp, but I am a big fan of a fun or funky accent too!

This “Work Hard” sign came from a local shop, Artisign Designs. I love everything she does, you cant go wrong!

Some Ikea Lack shelves filled with thrifted treasures, favorite books and souvenirs is my favorite part.
